This year’s March appeal called for assistance to help with the setup and running costs of the Kingsdene Respite Cottage at Rooty Hill in western Sydney. Kingsdene Respite Cottage will be a unique day and overnight facility for children who need constant high care – children from five years of age with severe intellectual and other disabilities.

In the latter part of 2010 ANGLICARE released two important research reports: Care to Live or Live to Care? and Long Way Home? The first report provides insights into the experiences of older parent carers based on a survey of nearly 300 carers and the second report looks at the plight of African refugees in Western Sydney who face significant housing insecurity.

Thank you to all our donors for their fantastic support to our Winter Appeal. Our goal was to raise a net $850,000 to help families on the edge get through another tough winter. By the beginning of August, we had already netted close to $920,000!

Over many years ANGLICARE has been dedicated to helping people in crisis. In the past three years we estimate to have seen at least 18,000 people in our Emergency Relief centres alone! And the number continues to rise, particularly as we prepare for our busiest time in the year, just prior to Christmas.
