Life is fragile. I’m reminded of this many times I hear of people’s stories through our work.

As the dust settled on 2012, I was grateful to God for his help through my first full year at ANGLICARE. I was grateful for some of the wonderful milestones reached in Sydney and the Illawarra and the opening of the new Community Care Centres in Nowra and Summer Hill. These are just a few of so many.

I have recently been musing on what Jesus meant when He said “do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble”.

Like other major cities of the world, Sydney boasts wonderful sights that are a tribute to our ingenuity and hard work. A simple stroll down Circular Quay, even on a sunny winter’s day, reveals the bustling scene of international tourists taking in our Opera House and Harbour Bridge. Yet only a few kilometres away, this scene shifts dramatically.

As we progress through this year I have sought to reflect on the many blessings with which God has provided us both personally and as an organisation.

One of the overwhelming impressions I have gained to date within ANGLICARE is the commitment to relationships, to building resilience and sustainability in the people we have the privilege to work with and care for.

One of the things that continually encourages us as we contemplate Bible history, is how God has never failed to raise up the right man for the job.

What makes up your family?
I am married to Linda and we have two sons, Alex (3rd Year uni) and William (Year 11), plus our dog, ‘Putney’.

The legacy of Peter’s work at ANGLICARE has provided clarity and future direction for three key areas: Who we are For a long time ANGLICARE has explored what it means to be Christian in terms of leadership and service. During the last six years under Peter’s leadership this understanding has grown.
