Although the road has sometimes been difficult I can honestly say that 2014 has been a defining and positive year for Anglicare Sydney
as we have continued to respond to the rapidly changing social and political arenas shaping the work of community service organisations in Australia.
We have seen a significant tightening of federal and state government funding for NGOs. Along with these, there have been significant reforms
in the aged and disability care sectors that will reshape the way organisations like us deliver the services we are known for.
Our services will adapt and change to meet the new environment, but the essence of how we respond will remain unchanged, firmly grounded in our vision to see lives changing and communities growing by care through Jesus Christ
At times of change like these I am reminded of Romans 12:2. Part of the verse says “be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is”. To me it is very clear that the Lord wants us to be open to change and to embrace the changes he has in store for us. In all the challenges at hand and ahead I put my faith in him to guide me.
I hope you will be inspired by the work of Anglicare Sydney, by our staff and volunteers and by the transformed lives of the clients we are honoured to serve. I also hope that it will encourage you to keep supporting this important work in your prayers, through your giving and through volunteering your time and energy.
