It's not every day you share a cuppa with His Excellency General, The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret'd) and Mrs Hurley. The residents of Anglicare Chesalon Retirement Village had the pleasure of meeting the Governor and his wife as a part of the Governor’s tour of Western Sydney.
Both the Governor and Mrs Hurley were keen to meet and chat with the residents, finding common interests with the people they talked to. Mrs Hurley even gathered together a group of 'choristers' who spontaneously joined her in song. Just before she and the Governor departed, the group regaled us with a rendition of 'When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob, Bob, Bobbin' Along' – leaving us on a high note!
Prior to his visit the Governor said "I have had the privilege of meeting some amazing people right across New South Wales over the 10 months since I became Governor."
"I'm looking forward to meeting the people of Western Sydney who contribute so much to this fast growing region".
Anglicare staff also showed the Governor and Mrs Hurley our plans to build a 100 bed Residential Aged Care facility. The on-site facility will offer much needed accommodation and care for the frail aged at Oran Park and surrounding suburbs.
