For over 20 years Ed Hercus has focused on leading and growing business start-ups. He has also worked in advisory and governance roles in the church and not-for-profit sector.

Ed and his wife Lucy have been a part of St Philips South Turramurra for the whole of their adult lives. Ed has recently joined Anglicare as Head of Fundraising.

“I am motivated by the notion of a vital, radically generous Church which following Jesus’ example, steps out to love and serve our city. Anglicare’s ministry to the poor and marginalised is a powerful expression of Christian service. There are great opportunities for Anglicare and local parishes working together to share the love of Jesus with others.” he says.

For the last six years Ed and Lucy have also been foster carers with Anglicare’s Out-of-Home Care program. This has given Ed and his family a small insight into the needs of the marginalised, and the opportunities that exist for Christians to engage with those needs.

“Many Christians I know are longing to do more than just talk about the ‘orphan, the refugee, the poor, and the oppressed’. They would love to be a part of a cause that serves and ministers to these people. Anglicare provides a means by which Christians can be the hands and feet of Jesus” says Ed.
