Over two very busy days at the end of February 2010, ANGLICARE staff participated in ‘Charity Expos’ held at the offices of AMP at Circular Quay and Parramatta. These expos informed AMP staff of the various Not-For-Profit (NFP) causes available for their support through ‘workplace giving’ and volunteering programs.

Workplace giving is a scheme whereby employees can nominate ANGLICARE as their charity of choice. They simply choose an amount they wish to donate for each pay period and organise through their payroll system to have it automatically deducted from their pay. This amount is calculated as a pre-tax amount, so it effectively works as a tax-deduction immediately.

All donations to ANGLICARE are accumulated in a given period and are paid directly by the employer as a single lump sum thereby reducing ANGLICARE’S administration costs. This is a great way to support ANGLICARE, both for employees and employers.

During both days there were many other charities informing AMP staff of the good works each does within the community. In the city ANGLICARE was one of 27 and at Parramatta we presented along with another 15 charities.

At the expo we set up a small ANGLICARE Shop where we sold books, cards, wrapping paper and ties. This encouraged AMP staff to visit our stand and ask questions relating to our Christian Care of others.
